Y-plate assembly

belt-driven Y axisscrew-driven Y axis

Items you need for this step:

1y plate left
1y plate right
4mini v wheel assembly from previous step
8M5 low profile 20mm screw
4M5 low profile 25mm screw
206mm aluminium spacer
8mini precision shim
26M5 nylon insert lock nut
2NEMA23 stepper motor
83mm aluminium spacer
2GT3 pulley
2Y inner side plate
14V wheel assembly from previous step
14M5 low profile 60mm screw
 12 eccentric spacer 6mm
14 6mm aluminium spacer
28 precision shim
here, all same as workbee instructions

First, slide in the 20mm screws in this orientation, into these holes – they will later serve for attaching the motors, but it’s not possible to insert them later so you have to do it now (or else you will have to unscrew a lot of things):

Then, use 25mm screws, a 6mm spacer and 2 mini precision shims per mini v wheel to attach it in this orientation to the plate:

Do this for both mini v wheels, and repeat it in mirrored position for the other plate:

Now you’ll use 2 more 20mm screws to attach the motor in this orientation relative to the plate: and put 3mm spacers between the motor and the plate before locking the screws with nylon insert lock nuts:

Do it for both plates:

It’s also a good time to attach the GT3 pulleys to the the motors:

Use 60mm screws, and a 6mm spacer, precision shim, a v wheel assembly, a 9mm spacer, another V wheel assembly another precision shim and another 6mm spacer before attaching the inner plates:

And for the lower rows, use eccentric spacers instead of 6mm spacers:

And tighten:

Do this for both plates (mirrored)

Items you need for this step:

1y plate left
1y plate right
4M5 low profile 20mm screw
4M5 low profile 25mm screw
166mm aluminium spacer
8mini precision shim
14M5 nylon insert lock nut
2Y inner side plate
14V wheel assembly from previous step
14M5 low profile 60mm screw
 12 eccentric spacer 6mm
14 6mm aluminium spacer
28 precision shim
here, all same as workbee instructions

Attach the nut blocks with 20mm screws and M5 lock nuts and put a 3mm spacer between the nut block and the plate:

Do this for both plates and before tightening the M5 nylon insert nuts, slide the ACME rod through it so that the distances adjust well

Do this for both plates (mirrored), and also attach a motor with adapter to the left plate assembly, with 40mm aluminium spacers and 60mm screws:
